CONSULTANT - COMMODITIES TRADING
We are seeking a Commodities Trader to operate as a consultant. The Consultant will analyse market trends, maintain relationships with clients, and negotiate contracts to buy or sell agricultural commodities. The Consultant should have strong analytical skills, an understanding of global markets, and the ability to make quick and informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain a robust network by recruiting, verifying, and on boarding buyers and sellers, ensuring a reliable base of market participants.
• Proactively identify and nurture potential commodity deals by aggregating market data and tracking opportunities, cultivating relationships until deals mature and are ready for execution.
• Facilitate effective deal execution by aligning buyer and seller requirements, negotiating favourable terms, and bridging gaps through strategic stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee buyers’ trading activities by ensuring timely communication and efficient trade execution, maintaining smooth operational flows throughout the process.
• Manage post-trade processes by coordinating the collection of cash and commodities, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring seamless settlement to support long-term operational excellence.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Diploma or better in Agriculture, Marketing, Business Management or any other related field
• 5 years of formal experience in agriculture commodity trading or related field.
• Experience in transport and logistics is an added advantage.
• Knowledgeable in both local and international markets and have prior relationships within the markets.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proven track record of working with agro-processors, farmers and/or commodity traders.
• In depth understanding of major agricultural commodity value chains.
• IT and computer skills.
• Self-starter, ability to work with minimal supervision.
